Property Management Development Retreat

In early July, along with our Property Management Team Leaders our GM Celia Burbery facilitated an annual property management two day retreat in Taupo with four other companies from around New Zealand in attendance. This retreat has been running for four years and was first initiated by Celia to foster relationships and the development of the industry.

The retreat is an opportunity for multiple non-competing companies to discuss issues affecting our industry on a day to day basis covering all our favourite topics including best practice, systems and processes, technology, stress, personal development, health and safety, business strategies, and of course compliance. This unique environment allows for the sharing of real world advice not always available in similar bigger conference environments and fosters the development of all companies involved. Everyone contributes by bringing their unique strengths to the table effectively elevating all companies as industry leaders in a competitive industry – several new initiatives learnt have already been implemented. Along with many intriguing work stories, the passion and commitment from attendees to provide their clients with first class service was very evident. It is always beneficial to learn and grow for the benefit of our clients, and of course, it’s also very important to share a laugh learning about each other’s strengths and weaknesses over a shared dinner.

Chinese TV Slot – Frankie & Jessie

We have some TV/Radio stars in our ranks with Jessie Wu, Business Development Manager, and Franklyn Young, Body Corporate Manager, starring every Tuesday 3.30pm – 4.00pm until 25 September on Chinese TV 28 or AM936am radio.

Jessie and Frankie discuss all things property management and body corporate related in Chinese so make sure you tune in!

Smoke Alarms Reminder

It is a landlord’s responsibility to ensure their rentals have working smoke alarms before each new tenancy starts. If you are a landlord that looks after the smoke alarms you need to ensure that they are checked so you comply with the legislation. We know this can be time consuming and costly so we engage the services of a few Smoke Alarm contractors who look after this for you and costs between $89 -$99 annually. Talk to your property manager today about your smoke alarm responsibilities.

Optimising the Marketing of your Property

We know that advertising a property with great photos is important in attracting tenants, that’s why we are pleased to announce that we will now be using the services of BoxBrownie – an online photo enhancing service that enables day to dusk comparisons, item removal, virtual staging, floor plans, etc. We are also pleased to confirm that APM will cover the cost for a total of 10 photos using this service with bespoke photos at the landlords cost.

Chat to your property manager about your property’s advertised photos today and see how we can help!

Watercare price changes

Effective of 1 July 2018, Watercare increased the price of their water services by an average of 2.5% due to the growing demands of the day to day services to the Auckland region. The price of wastewater services has also be increased, by 3.3% on average. The extra charge will help Watercare cater to the increasing Auckland population and the infrastructure needed to support this. More information can be found on the Watercare website.
