UTA Amendments Bill update from Steven Garland, Body Corporate General Manager.
The Unit Titles (Strengthening Body Corporate Governance and Other Matters) Amendment Act 2020 received royal assent on the 9th May 2022. The Act makes several amendments to the Unit Titles Act 2010 and will be of interest to all owners of a Body Corporate.
APM is currently being briefed by our Unit Title Law Specialists to some of the key elements in this Act such as:
- When will it come into force
- Changes to the reassessment of Utility Interest rules
- Changes to meeting voting
- Disclosure requirements
- Body Corporate Committee responsibilities
- Body Corporate Manager responsibilities
It is our intention to then hold client evenings (with the opportunity to Zoom in) in conjunction with the Body Corporate Chairs Group (BCCG) National President Tim Jones, who will help explain the changes and what this will mean for you and your Body Corporate.
In the meantime please find a link here of final version of the Bill approved by Parliament.
Confirmation of the Parliament’s final approval on 4 May can be found here.
Looking through the proposed changes I am pleased that Auckland Property Management already comply with, or can easily comply with the Amendment Bill’s requirements when they come into effect.
Kind regards
Steven Garland
